January 1st; Time to change the Magazines

Filed under: Laser Sights, hunting, rifle scopes — Fish @ 8:30 am

As you may know the springs in Mags can become fatigued when loaded.  It is a good practice to keep unloaded spares.  My method is to number them 1 and 2.  I keep the “1″ mags loaded from January through June and the the “2″ mags loaded from July through December.  Then it’s easy enough to remember to change them out at Independance Day and New Years Day.  Well, We’ve just had New Years so it’s time to unload the No. 2 mags and load up the No. 1 mags.

After unloading them, it’s time to break them down and inspect them.  If they look good, I put them back together and store them in a handy place.  I’ll still use the stored mags when I go to the range to make sure they’re in good working condition.  Also, I keep them handy just in case I should need them during their off months.  Hopefully, though, I wont.

The attached photograph is that of a rail-mounted laser sight.  The rail mounted sight attaches to the rail of the handgun.  It is important to know the rail specifications as they are not standardized.  Many adapters are available to mount lasers, flashlights, and other accessories to the rail.
