Rifle Scopes Search Function Update

We have an interim search filter operational for our rifle scopes, binoculars, and tactical sights.  It sort of does what we want.  It works by first selecting an attribute.  Attributes include magnification, objective diameter, reticle, or finish.  Then it populates the next field, which is the attribute parameters.  Finally, you can select the category.  It works and looks nice but is still not what exactly what we’re looking for.  Suggestions are welcome.

The Castle Doctrine

Filed under: Uncategorized — Fish @ 6:09 pm

A few nights ago, both my wife and I heard a strange noise.  It sounded like someone trying the back door.  I got up, grabbed the .45 and a flashlight and quietly patrolled the house.  There was enough ambient light where I didn’t need to use the flashlight and I didn’t have the Crimson Trace Lasergrip deployed – yet.  Basically, if there was anyone out there I wanted to see them before they saw me.

I crept around the house and, after some confidence, looked through the back door to see if anyone were there.  It then occurred to me that if someone had been at the door, the automatic floodlights would have most likely turned on.  My best guess is that the noise was from the automatic ice maker dumping in the middle of the night.  Relief.

The odd thing is that it didn’t occur to me to call 911; at least not until an intruder was confirmed.  Yes, that was in the back of my mind but it wasn’t first on the list.  I had called 911 once before and all I can say is that the longest time ever experienced is the time between when you report an emergency and the time someone actually shows up.  It’s not a pleasant wait.

So after I was sure the crisis was over, or, as there wasn’t a crisis at all, it was time to relax.  As I was double checking everything I noticed my reflection in the window of the back door.  I took aim at the reflection and deployed the laser sight.  A portion of the laser beam instantly reflected back to my chest, just below the .45.  Yep, had anyone been trying to break in, I don’t think I would have had any trouble dispatching them for a celestial dirt nap.

It is comforting to know that we live in a country that recognizes the fundamental right to self-defense.  And yet, there are many in this country who would take a way that right.  the late Senator Ted Kennedy pushed legislation that required individuals to vacate their homes when an intruder would enter.  Senator Kennedy had access to armed guards for most of his life and so it was easy for him to believe that ordinary citizens should be deprived of their arms.

Many states have implemented the Castle Doctrine.  The Castle Doctrine states that a person has the right to defend his family, home and property.  I couldn’t imagine living in a land where I was deprived the right to defend my family from intruders.

Rifle Scopes Search Filter; More

Filed under: Uncategorized — Fish @ 9:47 am

We’re still working on the search filter.  We’re looking to make searching for rifle scopes, binoculars, red dot sights, and reflex (holographic) sights much easier.  We’re doing so by enabling a filter that allows for filtering by magnification, objective diameter, reticle, and then finish.  It’s been surprising to see how many different magnification/objective variations there are.  I suppose that’s no surprise when you have over 600 rifle scopes and hundreds of binoculars.

Rifle Scopes Search Filter

We’re working on a search filter for ClearlyOptics.com.  This filter will make it easier to search for rifle scopes, binoculars, and spotting scopes and find the model that’s right for you.  The filter will search by price, magnification, Objective diameter, Reticle, and Color.  We expect to have the filter running by this Friday.

The attached photograph is that of a rail-mounted laser sight.  The rail mounted sight attaches to the rail of the handgun.  It is important to know the rail specifications as they are not standardized.  Many adapters are available to mount lasers, flashlights, and other accessories to the rail.
